Frightening news about Natasha Richardson. Edit: Added a link (different piece; no more details).

Actor Liam Neeson has rushed to the bedside of his wife Natasha Richardson following a skiing accident that has reportedly left the actress in a critical condition with a serious head injury.

The 45-year-old was involved in an accident on the slopes in Quebec, Canada on Monday and was taken to Montreal's Centre Hospitalier Laurentien, before being transferred to the nearby Hopital du Sacre-Coeur de Montreal.

Richardson is under constant supervision from medics after suffering a "traumatic brain injury", a hospital source told IrishCentral.com.

And a representative for Neeson's forthcoming movie Chloe, which he had been filming in Toronto at the time of the incident, has confirmed the Irish actor has left the set to be at his wife's bedside.

The spokesperson tells Canada Television, “Liam Neeson left the Toronto set immediately to fly to Montreal upon news of his wife’s accident. We do not have any details at this time but we hope for the best and our thoughts and prayers are with Natasha and Liam and their family.”

Richardson's uncle, Corin Redgrave, brother of her actress mother Vanessa Redgrave, says, "I have heard this morning from a family representative about Natasha's accident and am very saddened.

"We are very much thinking of Natasha, Vanessa and (sister) Joely, and are sending them our love."

No further information was available as WENN went to press.

That is dreadful. I hope she recovers, and swiftly.
I really hope so. It scares me a lot to see the words 'critical condition' and 'serious head injury' in the same sentence.
I have been reading about this tragic accident.
I don't really know anything about Nadasha, but of course I do know of Liam.
I can't imagine how the family is taking this horrible news.
I hope Natasha will have a compete recovry.
Very very sad news.

Thanks for the article, Anika...
This made me very sad this morning, I do really hope she'll be ok and soon, poor Liam and those two young boys.
I know! they always sound so scary, I've been keeping an eye on the story, she's flying to the US now I hope it's not too serious.

Natasha Richardson

Actress Natasha Richardson, reportedly in serious condition with head trauma in a Montréal hospital after a ski accident Monday at Mont Tremblant, was walking around and feeling fine for an hour after her accident, a spokesperson from the ski resort says.

"She was laughing and joking and she walked to her room on her own," Mont Tremblant spokesperson Catherine Lacasse says.

The British-born Richardson, 45, was not wearing a ski helmet when she was taking a private ski lesson on the Nansen, a beginners' run at Mont Tremblant. When she was near the bottom of the run in a section know as the flats, she fell down. According to the spokeswoman, Richardson did not hit anyone or anything before coming to a stop.

"She was accompanied by an experienced ski instructor who immediately called the ski patrol," according to a statement from the resort.

Lacasse tells PEOPLE that there were no cuts, bleeding or other external signs of injury. Ski patrollers assisted Richardson and helped her to her room. She was not put on a stretcher.

About an hour after the fall, Richardson started complaining of headaches. She went to a nearby hospital and was later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of Sacré Coeur Hospital. (A spokesperson for the hospital would not confirm or deny that Richardson was a patient there.)

According to AccessHollywoood.com, her husband, actor Liam Neeson, 56, was filming the movie Chloe in Toronto when he got the news and rushed to be by Richardson's side.

Richardson, who appeared in The Parent Trap, Maid in Manhattan and Nell has been married to Neeson since 1994. They have two sons, Micheal Richard Antonio, 13, and Daniel Jack, 12.
According to multiple reports, actress Natasha Richardson is being airlifted to a new hospital and is still alive.

Time Out New York is reporting, however, that the actress is "brain dead" and will not survive.

One report meant to say brain dead, not dead.

I guess we won't know for sure for a while...
Thank you for the updates, Char. Obviously there are widely conflicting reports and no one seems to know for sure.

This is from Yahoo, from about 14 minutes ago:

MONTREAL – British actress Natasha Richardson was hospitalized after falling on a beginners trail at the famed Mont Tremblant ski resort during a lesson, the resort and published reports said Tuesday.

It's identical to the other link I posted, aside from that first paragraph where they mention the beginners' slope.

If it's true what the other article is saying about no visible injuries, then it certainly sounds like it could be intracranial bleeding from the head injury. If that's the case, hopefully the blood can be drained and she'll recover. God, I hope she's going to be all right.
I hope you don't mind me adding to your post. I was going to post it in my journal, but just put it here instead.

I sure hope she will be ok. The family will be so devasted.

Oh-----On the new right now Update
Just giving her background and saying just what is in the articles.
He just said the family is very concerned.
Nothing new.

I do hope they can help her.

Update on Natasha----She has been declared brain dead and will be flown home and taken off life support. This was on the National News report just now.. 3:45 pm EST.

So very sorry about this news.
I hope not too, Michelle. At this point it's all just speculation, "friends of the family" and the like, so we'll find out for sure when the poor family are able to release an official statement. It sounds extraordinarily bad, though. It's just horrendous.

4:19 p.m. I read this just now:
Alan Nierob, a family spokesman, said on Wednesday afternoon that he had no information about Ms. Richardson’s medical condition. Asked if she was on life support or had been taken off life support, or if she was brain dead or in a coma — all of which has been reported on several media outlets over the last 24 hours — Mr. Nierob replied: "I don’t deal with rumors. I don’t care about rumors. All I care about it facts. And I don’t have any facts to give you."

A spokeswoman for the hospital as well as business representatives for Ms. Richardson referred questions to Mr. Nierob.

Good for Mr. Nierob. Some of the things that have been written are appalling. That Liam was seen crouching in the back of the ambulance, for example. Jesus, do these people have no shame? It's sickening.

Nothing much new on Natasha---She is now in a hospital in NY, and her mom and others flew in to be with her.
So far, she is on life support. They wanted the whole family to be by her side before they do anything.
It is said the family will put something out today.

It has been reported that she fell, hit her head, but got up and refused medical help.
She was walking and talking, but they took her to her room and stayed with her a while.
Then she complained of being dizzy and having headaches.
So they took her to the hospital, and what started out as something that appeared to be a minor fall on soft snow, turned into this horrible brain dammage.

It doesn't look very good at this poing.
I just heard on the evening news, and they waited to be sure before sharing the news, that Natasha has passed away.
So very very sad.
